1) They have a variety of UK shops here in Russia, including River Island and Marks & Spencer. If I run out of thermal underwear I know I'm safe.
2) It costs more to buy mixers for drinks than the actual spirits themselves. This is because in Russian culture it's unheard of to mix vodka or sip vodka. It's either downing it all with a toast or nothing at all!
3)They have American Eagle here. It's totally unfair when they don't have AE in the UK. That got my goat completely.

4) I found the Russian equivilant of 4 Locos (oh so notorious on the Duke campus...!) which is called Jaguar. My Russian friend was shocked that I would buy such a thing. I'm drinking it at the moment and it's pretty much just Red Bull. Looking forward to seeing if it's quite as good as 4 Locos.
5) The languages on food packets are in Russian, Ukranian, Kazakstani, Uzbeckastani and Azerbaijani (probably spelt them all wrong but OH WELL) which I find highly amusing as they're all essentially the same language just with a few differences, like say English and Scottish...
6) It's ok here to wear CCCP shirts and to talk about Stalin and everything. The memory of Lenin is still omnipresent here in Moscow, as if Stalin was the great evil and Lenin was so much better and a god in comparision to him (not that I'd quite agree with that, however...off topic). It's so different to the German experience with Hitler. You can buy statues, badges & t-shirts with Stalin, Lenin and other CCCP things on them, but if this happened in Germany you'd be arrested!
7) The Metro is super cheap. It costs about 50p per ride. As it's about £5 for a 10 ride pass. Once I get my student ID (on Sept 14th or so) I can get a cheap student pass which should make it about 30p a ride!! Epic.
