Due to the lack of an oven here in halls, I have to rely on a microwave and a hob. This means so far my diet has been limited to cereal out of my Doctor Who mug, microwaved baked beans, egg fried rice and wonton. Oh and these delicious wafer things with a chocolately hazelnut centre, they're like Pink Panther wafers but double the thickness and sooo yummy. I may have eaten the rest of my pack today....hmm...I'm going shopping with the Math boys later to Auchan so I'm sure I can pick up some more!
When I bought my cereal I thought I would be getting the Russian version of Cheerios. But oh no, these are not on par with Cheerios. They're Cheerio shaped but they taste like cardboard. Yucky. I'm having to put sugar on my cereal (shock horror!) just to eat them because they're so bland. I'm going to scope out some natural yoghurt or something because that might make them taste better.
The meat I saw in the supermarket did look a bit suspect so I'm going to carefully peruse and see if I can find something non-dodgy and that actually comes from the animal it says it is. The unfortunate thing about speaking limited Russian is that I'd be likely to miss the notice which said 20% chicken meat and 80% chicken feet. Deary me. But I guess it's better to not know what you're eating than to find out halfway. I can experiment with all the wonderful types of food they have here and come back home at Christmas and eat enough turkey to make up for it.
I'm still struggling with the no recyling though. I feel so guilty and I'm not some raging psychopathic "save the planet" person, but not putting plastic or glass in a separate recyling bin is getting to me..!
